The RCA Office of Discipleship in partnership with the CRC Home Missions, Calvin Theological Seminary, and Journey, Center for the Church's Learning at Western Seminary will present a simulcast conference, Becoming An Apprentice to Jesus, on November 4 and 5, 2010. Wyckoff, NJ and Sayville, NY will be two of the eight sites throughout the United States and Canada hosting the event."James Bryan Smith- a theology professor at Friends University in Wichita, KS, is an accomplished writer and speaker on the topic of Christian spiritual formation. He is the author of the Apprentice Series and a founding member of Renovaré, Richard J. Foster's spiritual renewal ministry. He is also the director of the Christian Spiritual Formation Institute at Friends University. During the simulcast event, he will present plenaries on his Apprentice Series writings, which help develop people who are apprentices of Jesus." The Queens CRC is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Organized in 1960, this congregation ministers to the Chinese community in Jamaica, NY.
