Classis Hudson will meet on Monday evening and Tuesday, March 7-8, 2011, at the Bridgeway Community Church in Haledon, NJ. The agenda deadline is January 17, 2011. All reports, overtures, and other requests should be submitted to the Stated Clerk by that date in order to include items in the agenda.
The CRC's Sustaining Pastoral Excellence (SPE) program wants to share information about the Lilly Foundation's sabbatical grants. Funding is available to cover program expenses for pastors and related congregational expenses during the pastor's time of sabbatical.More information can be found in the SPE flyer or by referencing the Lilly Foundation web site.
The Christian Reformed World Relief Committee (CRWRC) and its partners on the East Coast have been strengthening their relationship with another ministry birthed out of the CRC, called Partners Worldwide (PW). PW was begun by a group of CRC business leaders who view business as a missional calling from God, and who seek to use their position and skills in business to creatively address issues like global poverty.The latest newsletter from PW's East Coast office can be found here. Councils of churches in Classis Hudson are reminded that the deadline for submitting Paramus Fund grant requests for the coming year is December 1, 2010. Application forms may be found here.The Paramus Fund was created in 1980 from the remaining assets of the former Paramus Christian Reformed Church, which closed in 1976. The Fund provides grants each year for "ministry and church programs" within the congregations of Classis Hudson. It is administered by the Classical Interim Committee and the Treasurer.
Rev. David Sung will be officially installed as the pastor of Riverside Community Church in Elmwood Park, NJ in a special service of celebration on Sunday, November 21 at 4:00 pm.Rev. Sung was called by New Life Ministries of North Haledon to serve outside the CRC at Riverside Church, a request to which Classis Hudson gladly agreed at its fall meeting.Friends from the CRC are warmly invited to join Rev. Sung and Riverside Church at the installation service, and to pray for God's blessing on the continued ministry of both church and pastor.
Northeast Community Transformation, the diaconal ministry of Classes Hackensack and Hudson (see link in right hand column), is hosting a workshop on Saturday, November 20 from 9am - 12:30 pm. The workshop is entitled "Developing a Vision for Diaconal Ministry" and is designed for deacons and other mercy ministry workers.
